Melbourne Style 2009-10
Melbourne Style is a 32-page publication that is published quarterly and distributed into regional editions of the Herald Sun in Victoria. For the past four years I have been writing approximately 20 pages of editorial each issue, describing that quarter’s key events, and things to do in and around Melbourne.

Melbourne Shopping Guide
The Destination Melbourne crew asked me back to write the next issue of the pocket-sized Shopping guide. I wrote 18 pages for this 64-page A6 brochure. Topics included Shopping Melbourne style, Laneways and arcades, Precincts, Markets, Fashion, Something special, Villages and Events. Proofed final content in templates, liaised with designer re corrections etc. Published October 2007
Adventure guide Victoria
I wrote content about 10 different adventure activities and where to experience them in Victoria for this 56-page A4 brochure. As well as talking to adventure sportspeople, my research included participating in an overnight sea kayaking and bushwalking trip at the beautiful Wilsons Promontory. I couldn’t move my arms afterwards but I love my job. Thanks to clients like Tourism Victoria.
Planex press releases, product descriptions etc
Office storage never looked better. Planex makes sexy filing cabinets and screens and office accessories that are favoured by architecture firms and interior designers. I love editing blurbs about the latest product they have dreamt up and manufactured in their Melbourne factory. One day I hope to have one in my office.
Sydney to Melbourne touring brochure and website
There are several scenic routes to drive between Melbourne and Sydney. Tourism Victoria, Tourism New South Wales, and Australian Capital Tourism decided that they would promote the Great Alpine Road, the Sydney to Melbourne Touring Route and the Capital & Country Touring Route to both trade and consumer audiences.
I was brought on board to write a 74-page print product manual to be used by trade helping visitors plan their trip, and adapt that content for the consumer website.
2006 Spring racing carnival guide
I produced content to a very tight deadline for , Destination Melbourne and Racing Victoria for two versions (targetting Melbourne and interstate audiences) of a pocket guide for spring racing punters. I wrote 12 pages of words about Spring Racing Carnival venues and signature days, Melbourne shopping, Melbourne dining, nightlife and also country racing, tickets and travel. On the stands: July 2006.
Spa and wellness guide
Tourism Victoria asked me to help write the first Victorian Spa and Wellness guide. I wrote destination content for this 64-page A5 brochure, and proofed final content in templates, liaised with designer re corrections, wrote image captions etc
Melbourne and Victoria (touring brochure)
In 2004 as a Tourism Victoria employee I was acting editor of first edition of the Victorian ‘touring’ brochure. Now, as a freelancer I was invited back to update the content in this 80-page A4 brochure. This involved removing obsolete sections e.g. the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, as well as checking information about popular features and attractions, corrected errors detected since first publication etc.
Tourism Victoria strategic and industry plans
I proofed documents to correct grammar and ensure the documents were professional, accessible and written to the Tourism Victoria corporate style guide.
